Alan Christ

Hi. My name is Alan Christ.
I am from Iowa in the U.S.A..I come from a very small town with a population of 1,000,so I think Hofu is very large. I really, really like to play Frisbee.My other favorite sport is baseball. My favorite team in Japan is the Hiroshima Carp. I also like the Daiei (oops! Softbank) Hawks.I am looking forward to the start of the season. Maybe I can see the Carp play in the Japan Series.
I went to the University of Iowa and graduated with a degree in History and Education. I also have a Master's Degree from the University of Washington in Teaching English as a Second Language. I have been teaching English in Hofu for almost twenty years.

ハロー。私の名前はアラン・クリストです。アメリカ合衆国アイオワ州の小さな町から来ました。故郷の人口が１０００人くらいなので、防府市に比べると、防府市の方がとても大きいと思います。趣味はフリスビーをすることです。野球も好きで、好きな野球チームは広島カープと（元ダイエー）福岡ソフトバンクホークスです。
アイオワ州立大学を歴史と教育学の専攻で卒業し、後にワシントン州立大学大学院で英語が母国語ではない人達に英語を教える英語教授法（Teaching English as a Second Language)の修士課程を学び、修士号を取得しました。防府市で２０年以上も英語講師として活動しています。
県内の大学で非常勤で教えたり、企業で教えたりした経験から多くの方々がTOEICの成績を上げたいと熱望されているので、より効果的な問題集が必要だと思い執筆したTOEICの問題集（新TOEICテスト　はじめてでも600点が取れる！）が成美堂出版社より全国発売され、多くの方々から支持されベストセラーになっております。紀伊国屋書店などではお勧め本のベスト５の中に常時入っております。

Gretchen Huffman

My name is Gretchen Huffman.
I am originally from Lawrence, KS, USA but lived in Ohio for my undergraduate degree, and North Carolina for my graduate degree. I received my Master in fine arts with an emphasis in printmaking, relief carving to be specific. Naturally I wanted to live in Japan so that I may observe and study the history of Japanese woodblock carving firsthand. Other hobbies are running outside, hiking in mountains, traveling when possible, and filling my brain with random facts. I look forward to teaching English this coming year and exploring around Yamaguchi Prefecture. I enjoy teaching English at HEA very much.

私はグレッチェン　ハフマンです。アメリカのカンザス州のローレンス出身ですが、大学はオハイオ州のコロンバス大学に行き、ノースカロライナ州のノースカロライナ大学の大学院に行きました。そこで美術の修士号を取得しました。専門は版画です。じかに日本の版画の歴史を見たり勉強ができるので、ずーと日本で暮らしてみたいと思っていました。他の趣味はジョギング、山をハイキングすること、旅行、頭をいろんなことでいっぱいにすることです。多くの方に英語を教えることと、山口県のことをできるだけ多く知りたいと思っています。平岡イングリッシュアカデミーで英語を教えるのがとても楽しいです。
